dmg MEAAdmg events Middle East, Asia & Africa, a leading international events company, has acquired boutique business forum organiser Atticus Events’ HI Design portfolio. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Focused specifically on the interior design of luxury hotels, HI Design organises specialist business meetings between key buyers from currently active hotel projects and a curated selection of International FF&E suppliers. With each edition held in a different five star hotel location, HI Design events are currently run annually in Europe, Asia and MEA.

IMG acquires Exhibitions International

IMGIMG, subsidiary of US talent agency Endeavor, has acquired the global museum exhibition producer Exhibitions International, as well as its portfolio of events including King Tut: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh (on which the two companies had previously collaborated), Pompeii: The Exhibition and Mummies of the World.

Under the terms of the acquisition, Exhibitions International will sit within IMG’s events division with arts and entertainment. Furthermore, John Norman, Exhibitions International’s founder and president, will become managing director of exhibitions for IMG Events. Norman’s team will also join IMG Events. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

lbrLevine Leichtman Capital Partners has acquired Law Business Research (LBR), a provider of research, news, data and insight on international business law and legal markets, from Bowmark Capital.

LBR, which was established in 1996, was sold to Bowmark in 2013. The sale was managed by Fusion Corporate Partners on behalf of its original founders, Richard Davey, Callum Campbell and Sebastian O’Meara.

LBR creates content spanning 120 jurisdictions across its brands, serving a client base that comprises major corporations, government agencies and the global legal industry.  It is a information provider in fields such as competition law, arbitration law, cross-border investigations and Latin American corporate law.

Since Bowmark acquired the company, LBR has more than doubled its sales and profits.  It has added new territories and products, including two new titles, ’Global Investigations Review’ and ’Global Restructuring Review’, as well as a new workflow application, ’Arbitrator Research Tool’.  It has also significantly enhanced its technology platform and opened offices overseas.   During this period, employee numbers grew by 80 per cent.

Mark Allen Group acquires Miles Publishing Limited 

MAGThe Mark Allen Group has acquired Miles Publishing from its owner, Miles Blossom. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

MPL comprises two core products; the market leading brand, Comms Business, and its related event, Channel Live. Comms Business operates in the ICT sector whose primary audience is resellers of related products and services. Channel Live is the only ICT trade exhibition in the UK of its kind that takes place at the NEC in September.

Ben Allen, Chief Executive of MAG, said; “This is a great acquisition for us. I got to know Miles quite well when we sold him last year our golf magazine, Pro-Shop Europe. Miles has built up a very good company which, for personal reasons, he now wishes to dispose of, although, as a very keen golfer, he is going to retain the golf part of his operation.”

CloserStill acquires Online Educa Berlin

CloserStillCloserStill Media is to acquire Online Educa Berlin, a cross-sector conference on technology-

supported learning and training, from ICWE GMbH for an undisclosed sum. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in Berlin, Germany in 1995, OEB is an annual international conference on technology-supported learning and training (e-learning), welcoming over 2,000 delegates from across the corporate, education and public sectors, and including an exhibition featuring more than 80 international Edtech companies and institutions.

The acquisition will complement CloserStill’s existing event brand, Learning Technologies, which has events in Paris and London.

Commenting on the acquisition and the launch plans for Learning Technologies Germany in 2018 alongside OEB, CloserStill’s learning group director, Mark Penton, said: “We are genuinely excited to bring the highly respected OEB event into our family of market-leading events and to work with its founder Rebecca Stromeyer.

Parallel Media Group to acquire Brick Live and Parallel Live, to create Live Company Group

PMGlogoParallel Media Group plc is to acquire Brick Live and Parallel Live, to create a new live entertainment events company – Live Company Group – and bring BRICKLIVE  to London’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM).

The acquisition of the two companies and of partners’ shares in Brick Live Far East, are valued at £10m, and the company is raising £1.26m through a share placing at 30p. On completion, the enlarged group will have a market value of £14.5m.

To reflect the Enlarged Group’s new business focus it will be renamed Live Company Group plc (AIM: LVCG) on Completion.

The acquisitions of Brick Live and Parallel Live are part of the PMG’s strategic plans to expand its live entertainment offering. BRICKLIVE (Lego) events have been well-received globally and last weekend, BRICKLIVE shows were hosted simultaneously across three continents – Europe, Asia and South America.

The directors believe that the increased profile of being part of a public company will assist Brick Live’s growth strategy and support it in finding further high-quality licensee partners for events.

The Company’s strategy is to build on the success of BRICKLIVE partner-driven events in the UK, South Korea, Japan, Switzerland and Brazil to further extend the global footprint of these shows, with a focus on the Far East and China, in particular.
