Mash Media acquires International Confex from UBM Live

mashmedia-logoPublisher and event organiser Mash Media has acquired International Confex, the exhibition for the meetings and events industry, from UBM Live. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

confexIn June 2012 Mash Media acquired The Event Production Show from Ocean Media Group, alongside the Event Production Awards, Access All Areas magazine, and directory The White Book.

International Confex runs from 11-13 March at ExCeL London.

SIIA acquires the Specialist Media Show

SIIAThe Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) the trade association for the software and digital content industries, based in Washington DC, has bought the Specialist Media Show, a UK-based organiser of live and online events and resources for consumer and B2B publishers.

The Specialist Media Show has showcased digital media innovation at events for niche publishers since 2010. The next event, the specialistmediashowSpecialist Media Conference, will take place 24 April 2013 at the British Library. SIIA’s acquisition will take effect after the event.

“Digital media innovation is at the heart of publishing and content strategy, and it’s happening on a global scale,” said SIIA President Ken Wasch. “Companies from New York to London are seeing many of the same opportunities and challenges with their digital strategies. The Specialist Media Show will help us strengthen the collective power of our communities to serve the information industry.”

Reed MIDEM acquires LeWeb

midemLogoReed MIDEM, part of Reed Exhibitions and an organiser of international tradeshows and conferences, has acquired LeWeb, an internet conference and networking events business.

Launched in Paris in 2004 by Loic and Geraldine Le Meur , LeWeb brings together the key players in the international internet ecosystem including entrepreneurs and visionaries, investors and venture capitalists, technology businesses, large companies, digital marketers and journalists. In addition to its annual Paris gathering, LeWeb launched a London event in June 2012.

Commenting on the acquisition, Reed MIDEM Chief Executive Officer Paul Zilk said, “LeWeb fits very well with Reed MIDEM. We share the same ambition for developing premium international events where participants network and build relationships, do business, launch new products and discover the latest innovations.
