DC Thomson Media acquires Aceville Publications

DC Thomson MediaDC Thomson Media has announced the acquisition of independent magazine publisher Aceville Publications. Headquartered in Dundee, DC Thomson Media has been publishing for over 100 years and has a portfolio of more than 20 magazines, including the much loved brands The People’s Friend and Beano. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Aceville Publications is one of the fastest-growing publishing houses in the UK and home to over 40 in-house brands including the leading UK-based craft titles to gardening, health and food publications. This is complemented by a growing B2B portfolio.

Ziff Davis acquires NetShelter from inPowered

ziffdavisZiff Davis, the  digital media company in the technology, gaming and men’s lifestyle categories, has acquired NetShelter. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. Ziff Davis is a division of j2 Global, Inc.

NetShelter is a network of over 150  consumer and business tech sites, including AndroidCentral.com, MacRumors.com, Neoseeker.com, SlashGear.com and TechSpot.com, which create over 40,000 articles every month, delivering nearly 16 billion ad impressions per year.

Vivek Shah, CEO of Ziff Davis, said: “The acquisition of NetShelter fully returns Ziff Davis to the dominant netsheltermarket position in the technology vertical. SIIA acquires the Specialist Media Show

SIIAThe Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) the trade association for the software and digital content industries, based in Washington DC, has bought the Specialist Media Show, a UK-based organiser of live and online events and resources for consumer and B2B publishers.

The Specialist Media Show has showcased digital media innovation at events for niche publishers since 2010. The next event, the specialistmediashowSpecialist Media Conference, will take place 24 April 2013 at the British Library. SIIA’s acquisition will take effect after the event.
